Decorations, such as they were, down. Came down yesterday. I’m a traditionalist. Think they should go up on Christmas Eve and come down on Epiphany, or the day after. Lose the argument on the going up end, as there is no argument. J simply begins putting them up, not that I lose any sleep over the schedule. Really only amount to our stained plastic Christmas tree, Bits of coloured foil, a bowl of coloured baubles and our little wooden people. Our affections saved for the people, as we both reflect a little sadly on their not seeing the light of day for another year. Banishment. The theory is that the three boxes we stashed pre-covid will be down to one box this year, with the usual proviso of nothing we couldn’t walk away from. We’ll see.
UN vehicle parked outside our building for an hour or more this morning. Well, not just the vehicle, of course. A couple of UN soldiers with it. There is a United Nations administered buffer zone at the border. Not uncommon to see UN military in Larnaca but not usual to see them apparently on duty this far from the green line. Immigration related? Miss having Kiki on reception. She would have told us everything. Chris might - if we asked discreetly and if the answer didn’t reflect badly on him.
