J notes that the Greek church up the hill from us has begun glowing in the late afternoon. Of course the days are getting longer. Sunset later than it was, but not as late as. northern countries. And at the same time the sun is setting more to the west and less to the southwest, which for us means that sunset has moved from its winter spot behind the mountain peaks. So now we get to see the warm glow of the stone church tower at dinner time.
Finishing the rock cakes J comments that they remind him of shortbread. And with good reason. Haven’t made shortbread but the main ingredients are basically the same (save for the raisins in the rock cakes) and furthermore the proportions of butter, sugar and flour are almost identical.
