Pretty well a coin flip on which direction to head today. But actually toss not needed as heading for the cash point means south toward the town centre. Good sunny day but no guarantees on the rest of the week. Have been watching the radar as a storm moves east across the Mediterranean. Has reached Crete and headed our way, although does look as if the winds are as much from the south as from the west, so much of it may blow up into Turkey before it reaches us. Still distance errands better done today than tomorrow.

Check the Smart by the old market place (new market place as yet nonexistent) for the Syrian shiraz, our Smart being out. As often happens, shop has four bottles. Buy one. Like it and buy the other three. Never seen again. But now fairly near favourite bakery, so wholemeal sourdough loaf and two large koulouri - sesame bread rings. Would by tradition have eaten them on the way home but suitable bench outside English cemetery occupied by young couple heavily engaged.

So final stop at Elephant Store for milk, fruit and veg. Next rainless day north to Lidl for free range eggs and peanuts only peanut butter. Un-added-to peanut butter hard to find here as peanut butter itself not part of the culture. Free range eggs slightly harder than they ought to be, as barn eggs - known in Canada as free run - much more common. Get it in Canada. Free range does depend on minimum outdoor time and who in January wishes to order reluctant hens outside and to what purpose. Would expect more here than there actually are.
