Jane continues celebrating her birthday as befits an octogenarian. Largely because she would have invited Susan and David last week but for the fact that they no longer go out at night. So we join them for trout at Jane and Bill’s. Bill had originally intended to do them in his smoker but they proved to be enormous - would never have fit in the smoker - so he stuffs them and does them in foil on the barbecue. Lovely delicate flavour. Some discussion of the different varieties of trout leading to our learning, courtesy of google, that steelhead trout are rainbow trout that have migrated to the ocean. Not that these are steelhead. Brown? No end to the information we take in. Retention something else. Beautiful sunny day, so as usual we eat outside. As they have sheltered spots on both front and back of the house, meals are almost always outdoors year round. Mosquitoes not an issue here, though flies happy to join in the festivities, especially if anything sweet is on offer.
