To Holland Park to look at Tony Benn's former house which has a plaque on it honouring his wife Caroline; educator, writer and socialist. A nice terrace house with a little picket fence and a garden someone has taken some time with in the past. Also an interesting example of what now goes for over  £3 million - but presumably didn't sixty years ago.

Take a look at the new 3D televisions not requiring glasses at John Lewis. Interesting concept (by Sanyo) but still needs work. Focus not always good, especially on writing. There's quite a bit of ghosting. Simply not good enough for over £3000 - though the idea of going sans glasses is attractive. there's an LG one with glasses that's better, but still uneven - sometimes impressive but at other times rather like a large viewmaster.

On Kilburn High Road J buys a pair of shoes - good black oxfords - on sale for £30. And since we're on the road we stop for supper at Roses - roast lamb, roast potatoes and two veg for J - similar for me but with chicken. Humus and pita starter and cheesecake (decadent but shared) for dessert.

Some time after 9 the man arrives to put in the black box for the great digital switchover. so we suddenly have a great picture and dozens of channels - some junk but quite a lot of good ones. Ironic, as we're in a city where there's endless interest and stimulation without television.
